2010 NMJRA Members,

Welcome to the New Mexico Junior Rodeo Association website!  The 2010 rodeo season is right around the corner.  NMJRA has a new President and Board this year who all share a common goal, which is to provide a safe, competitive and professional atmosphere for our youth rodeo competitors in New Mexico.  This association has shadowed the guidelines of the Wrangler Junior High Rodeo and High School Rodeo Associations in order to prepare our young competitors to advance to the next level of their rodeo careers.

NMJRA welcomes unmarried cowgirls and cowboys 19 years of age and younger to compete. Competitors of all levels are encouraged to join.  This is a family oriented summer series consisting of 12 rodeos (6 weekends).  In an effort to help our members improve in their rodeo events, the NMJRA Event Directors plan to hold “clinic type” practices and jackpots this season.  A mentorship program will be available this year for the younger members who would like to be paired up with an older member for help with their events.  There will be an activity scheduled on Saturday evenings for every rodeo weekend where all members and their families can have a good time and get to know one another.  Cowboy church will be held on Sunday mornings too.

Membership, sponsor and entry forms can be downloaded from this website.  The NMJRA rule book has been revised this year and is also available in the website.  NMJRA is known for giving high quality awards and in order to continue this tradition, each member will be required to bring in at least $150 in sponsor(s) OR MORE, due no later than the second rodeo (Belen).  By having sponsorships in early, the awards committee will have time to order awards and have them ready to give out at finals.

Entries that are NOT postmarked ten days prior to the rodeo will not be in the computer draw and will be write-ins.  Draw outs must be done the day before the computer draw which is always five days before the rodeo.  Families will be drawn each weekend to help work the gates, set barrels, poles and hold goats.  Remember that checks are not deposited until one day before the rodeo.  When pre-entering a rodeo, use a separate entry form with a separate check attached.

Volunteers are needed to be back up timers and announce in the crow’s nest.  At least one parent from each age group will be needed to help double check points.  Please contact Lisa Wade or one of the board members in advance to let us know what you can do to help.

We look forward to seeing our returning members and hopefully lots of new members this year.  Be safe and may this season be your best.

GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!
